From classics to theology, the Armitage College of Liberal Arts offers a wide variety of rigorous academic programs. The foundation of our undergraduate program is built upon the Seven Liberal Arts. A series of courses in Latin grammar, Logic, Rhetoric, Number Theory, Geometry, Music Theory, & Astronomy are taken by all undergraduates. Along with these, the undergraduate will study the greatest thinkers of Western civilization and come to understand their influence upon it.
The Department of Classics offers instruction in the Ancient Greek, Latin, Hebrew, & Modern Greek languages, literature, history, and philosophy, all leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree. The Classics program at Miskatonic University provides a solid foundation in Ancient Greek & Latin by reading from original language texts. It further builds on this foundation through instruction in prose and poetry culminating in the student writing a research paper in Latin. During the course of study, students will take classes in Archaeology, History, and Philosophy.
The Miskatonic Computer Science Department provides the student with a strong foundation in Mathematics, Programming, & Engineering. The student will also complete certification tests for A+, Network+, Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, and Linux Certifications. Each student will be required to produce a senior project.
Miskatonic’s Fine Arts program follows the Atelier tradition which has produced some of the greatest realists artists known to man. Unlike many of the programs here at Miskatonic, finding quality instruction in the Atelier tradition for free has not been possible apart from The Charles Bargue Drawing Course. And while this book is sufficient for the dedicated autodidact, having a course with videos, and quality pictures to copy has been found to make attaining this skill available for everyone.
The Department of Mathematics offers a rigorous curriculum covering Calculus to Topics in Applied Mathematics. Whether for personal enjoyment, preparation for a new career, or preparing to home school your children, our mathematics degree will prepare you. And like all degree programs at Miskatonic University, mathematics majors will complete the core curriculum.
Miskatonic’s Department of Philosophy provides the student with a broad historic overview of philosophy and major developments, followed by an in depth study of the works of Plato, Aristotle, Kant, & Hegel. During this course the student will see how each of these systems fails.
The Department of Theology offers an intensive Bachelor of Arts program designed to prepare the layman for seminary. This is done via the mentoring system within the local church. The student receives a strong theological foundation along with practical ministry skills. The program is based upon the Reformed Confessions and provides divergent tracks and key points for both Presbyterians and Baptists.
